Organizations with high performance graphic workloads will soon be able to run an AMD-powered workstation in the cloud as AWS has announced that it is developing new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances in the G4 instance family.
These new instances will improve performance while reducing cost for graphics-intensive workloads such as game streaming, animation and video rendering.
AWS' new G4ad instances will feature AMD's latest Radeon Pro V520 GPUs as well as the chipmaker's 2nd generation EPYC processors and they are the first instances in EC2 to feature AMD GPUs.
Last year AWS released its G4dn instances which feature Nvidia T4 GPUs and up until now, they were the most cost-effective GPU-based instances in EC2. G4dn instances are ideal for deploying machine learning models in production as well as graphics-intensive applications.
However, when compared to G4dn instances, the new G4ad instances enable up to 45 percent better price performance for graphics-intensive workloads as well as a 40 percent improvement in performance.
While G4dn instances remain the best option for small-scale machine learning (ML) training and GPU-based ML inference due to included hardware optimizations like Tensor Cores and access to Nvidia libraries such as CUDA, CuDNN and NVENC, G4ad instances benefit from the improved price and performance offered by AMD's CPUs and GPUs.
When G4ad instances become available soon in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon) and Europe (Ireland), customers will be able to choose from three instance sizes depending on the number of GPUs, GPU memory, vCPUs, memory, storage and EBS and network bandwidth they require.

Instagram 'Live Rooms’ feature will now allow users to go Live with up to three additional people in India. This is expected to help creators grow their audiences by going live with multiple guests
Instagram first started testing this feature in India, and it is also one of the first countries for the official rollout. Instagram is rolling this out in Indonesia as well.
"From the launch of Reels, to the testing and rollout of Live Rooms, India is playing a crucial role in the way products are being designed for the future,” Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director, Facebook India, said in a press statement.
Instagram Live currently supports only two members at the same time. Instagram expanding audience support for live broadcasts comes at a time when the platform has been witnessing one of the highest spikes in usage.
Adding a third guest on Instagram Live is not all that difficult. It is more or less similar to the way it worked when two guests were allowed.
Here are the simple steps:
Swipe right to open the Instagram camera, or tap on the ‘+’ icon.
Choose ‘Live’ from the list of options available.
Enter a title by using the menu on the left side. Title is not mandatory though,
Tap the circular button to go live.
To add guests, tap the camera/Rooms icon.
You can choose from people who have requested to join your live or search for them.
Then just tap on the guests' handles to add them to your live.
You can add all the guests at one time, and or add them at different times.
Instagram has started rolling out this feature, and it will reach all users in India soon. It is not clear as to when it will be available in other countries.
“This year in particular has seen extensive use of Live, and as physical distancing norms continue, Live will remain an invaluable feature to bring friends, families and audiences together, and foster meaningful conversations,” Ajit Mohan added.
The Facebook-owned platform introduced Instagram Live in November 2016, which allowed users to broadcast live videos for up to an hour. The live videos are removed from the service after the user is done broadcasting.

Looking at the list of the top trending videos, you cannot spot any specific trend in terms of content. Comedy, especially with social messages, continues to be a good draw.
Not surprisingly, gaming was another popular area. Positive message clips have also done well.

This announcement is followed by a barrage of announcements by OEM’s looking to be one-up each in the race to win the coveted title of being the first ones to launch a phone with the shiny new flagship processor.
This year there has been no change. While Xiaomi’s Mi 11 could be the first one with the Snapdragon 888 in tow, its close friend Realme, not wanting to be left far behind, has also announced its contender to the race, codenamed Realme Race
Snapdragon 888 is official with host of new features for 2021 next-gen flagship phones
To recall, Realme’s executives have been teasing about it's a new flagship smartphone with the then rumoured Snapdragon 875. Just yesterday we reported about an upcoming phone called Realme Ace with flagship features like 125W fast charging technology. Now then, a phone with the most powerful chipset available for Android devices coupled with the fastest charging solution available for smartphones as of now could sound like a finger-licking solution for enthusiasts

What do we know about the Realme Race?
Though it is way too early for us to talk about the Realme Race, however, we did come across a “leak” revealing the design of the upcoming smartphone as well as some key specifications that you can expect to see once the phone is launched. There is no prize of stating the obvious fact that this would be a 5G capable device and thanks to the latest chipset powering the phone, you can expect faster connectivity speeds.
The leaked image shows a device with a quad-camera setup, though in a circular design rather than a rectangular camera island we’re used to seeing in the recent wave of phones. As of now, we’re not sure about the specifications of this camera setup.
In terms of technical specifications, the spec sheet doing rounds suggest the presence of a Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The phone with a model number RMX2202 is shown running on Realme UI v 2.0 on top of Android 11.
Realme Race launch date
While Realme has only shared that it wants to be one of the first ones to launch a Snapdragon 888 powered phone, it has not hinted or revealed when the phone will be launched. However, looking at the launch date of Realme X50 Pro, India’s first 5G phone, one can expect the Realme ‘Race’ to be unveiled around February end or early March.
In an official statement, Realme's main man in India, Madhav Sheth has confirmed that the Realme Race will be launched in India as well.
To recall, the launch of Realme X50 Pro was marred by the pandemic outbreak hence you can give a little bit of leeway to Realme and expect them to come out with the new flagship slightly early, say the first week of February next year. That said, let us wait for more news around this.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note series back in March in India and later in November they unveiled Redmi Note 9 5G series and a new Redmi Note 9 4G device which was exclusive to China. Among the three devices from the recently launched series, two of the Redmi Note 9 series devices might be rebranded for the India market and one might go global with rebranding.
According to a report from MySmartPrice, the Redmi Note 9 4G might launch in India as the Redmi Note 9 Power and the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G might launch as Mi 10i in India. These devices have been spotted on the Google Play Console as well.
As per the Google Play Console listing, the Xiaomi Mi 10i and Redmi 9 Power moniker are confirmed and their model number matches with the recently launched Redmi Note 9 series. The listing confirms that the Mi 10i will sport an octa-core Snapdragon 750G, 6GB of RAM, and a Full HD+ screen resolution. The Redmi Note 9 Power, on the other hand, is said to feature Snapdragon 662 SoC, Full HD+ screen, and 4GB of RAM. Both devices run on Android 10 OS.
The vanilla Redmi Note 9 5G was spotted on NBTC certification and could be a rebranded Redmi Note 9T 5G for the global market. Since the devices are launched in the Chinese market, we expect the devices to come out with the same set of specs when launched in India as well.

The Mi 10i will be powered by new Snapdragon 750G chipset with 5G support. It flaunts a 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There is also AdaptiveSync technology that allows the display to scale between six different refresh rate levels to achieve better efficiency.
It is also the cheapest phone with a 108MP camera with all-new Samsung ISOCELL HM2 image sensor. It is followed by a 13MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter. The battery is rated at 4,820mAh with support for 33W fast charging. Other features include IP53 water-resistance, 360-degree ambient light sensing, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a free antimicrobial case and screen protector.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G starts at CNY 1,599 (~Rs 18,000) for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, CNY 1,799 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and CNY 1,999 for the top 8GB + 256GB model.

What is it? This is the Chuwi CoreBox X, a very small workstation PC that can also be used as a business PC or a thin client (and anything in between).
What makes it special? It's cheap for what it offers and surprisingly small as well.
How much does it cost? It's available at Banggood for $330 (roughly £245/AU$450) until the end of the year when you use code BGDec02 at checkout. That's an extra $90 off the current sale price of $420. Overall, you net a staggering 43% discount on the suggested retail price of $581. Mind-blowing.
Have you reviewed it? Not yet, but we're currently working on a review of its sibling.
Chuwi CoreBox X Core i7 PC:$580.99$329.99 at Banggood Save $251 by using the exclusive code BGDec02 at checkout (offer expires on December 31). This is a powerful Intel Core i7 PC with 8GB RAM, a 256GB SSD and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. It's great as a business computer, graphics workstation or multi-purpose home PC.View Deal
What else should we know? It runs on an Intel Core i7-6560U processor, which is a low power dual core CPU from 2015 that equipped high end laptops back in the day. It might be old, but it's still capable thanks to an Intel Iris Graphics 540 GPU. Benchmarks show that it is should be competitive with Intel Pentium processors from 2020.
Why buy it? It still comes with a fast 256GB PCIe SATA SSD (with an additional spare 2.5-inch storage slot) with 8GB of RAM (probably expandable to 32GB). Add in an Intel AC Wi-Fi-5 radio card, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, a DP port, an HDMI slot, four USB ports and two audio jacks and you have a pretty capable PC.
Any cons? There are no front-facing ports, no memory cards, and no VESA mount. Also, HP currently has an equally small desktop - the Slim Desktop S01 - that is cheaper, faster, has newer memory and an extra 1TB HDD. But it has slower graphics and lacks dual 4K monitor support and dual Gigabit Ethernet. Decisions, decisions.

You might usually pull up Google Maps to find the quickest way home, or navigate your way around a new neighborhood, but the search giant is hoping to expand the way you use its app.
There’s a new feature in Google Maps – a community feed. It’s similar to the news feed on your Facebook or Instagram account, except it’s designed to let you know what’s happening in your area, with information contributed by locals.
It includes recommendations of local spots, reviews from Google’s Local Guides, and photos of favorite dishes. When you follow your local businesses on Maps, you’ll now get updates directly from them, such as new take-away and delivery options.
You’ll find the new community feed in the ‘Explore’ tab of Google Maps, and you can tailor it to your interests. If you’ve followed a few vegetarian restaurants, or marked an interest in Italian food, then Maps will show you more of these recommendations.
You’ll be able to use the new feature for more than just your local area, though. If you’re looking for something new, you’ll be able to move around the map and find contributed information for just about anywhere in the world – at least, that is what Google has set out to do.
Much of this information was already available on Google Maps one way or another, but certain aspects became particularly helpful in recent months – businesses were able to post updates on their new opening hours, or let customers know that they were moving operations online.
But that was only available if you looked up that specific business’ profile – now, it can appear all in one place, and one that can be specifically curated to you.
In a statement on its blog, a spokesperson for Google said that in early testing of the new feature, “we saw that posts from merchants are seen two times more than before the feed existed”.
The new feature is in the process of rolling out to all phones with iOS or Android.
The site then proceeded to teardown several more PS5 consoles and discovered that the fans inside all five units were completely different from each other.
As evidenced by the picture below, the fan said to be from the noisier retail model has 17 blades on it, while the press unit's fan reportedly possesses 23 slightly thinner blades.
While the exact airflow provided by each fan is difficult to quantify, it's generally assumed that fans with fewer blades have to work harder and spin faster to push air through, leading to a noisier fan overall.
As pointed out by our sister site Tom's Hardware, the discovery brings into question the usefulness of many existing PS5 teardown cooling tests, as they may no longer accurately reflect what users can expect from consoles purchased at retail.
That said, so long as your PS5's fan is effectively cooling the console it's attached to, it's doubtful that Sony will issue a replacement.
If you'd like to see which fan is inside your PS5, you can view this easy enough without voiding your console's warranty by popping off the white side panels.
The popular SMS messaging app for Android GO SMS Pro is still exposing the privately shared photos, videos and files of millions of users despite the fact that Trustwave researchers recently disclosed that the app has a major security flaw.
The cybersecurity firm discovered back in August that media files sent via GO SMS Pro are stored insecurely on a publicly accessible server that can be accessed using some very minor scripting. Although it isn't possible to link the media files to specific users, those files that include faces, names or other identifying characteristics put the privacy of users at risk online.
A new version of GO SMS Pro was uploaded to the Play Store the day before Trustwave publicly disclosed that the app had a serious security flaw. Google then removed the app from its store but at the time of writing, version 7.94 of the app is available to download.
We've put together a list of the best VPN services on the market
According to Trustwave, it appears that the app's developer GOMO is trying to fix the issue but a complete fix is still not available. In version 7.93 of GO SMS Pro the ability to send media files has been completely disabled while version 7.94 allows users to upload media to the app but these files don't appear to go anywhere when sent to another user.
Still vulnerable
Despite GOMO's attempts to fix its app, Trustwave has confirmed that older media used to verify the original vulnerability is still available online. The exposed media files contain quite a bit of sensitive data including driver's licenses, health insurance account numbers, legal documents and pictures of a more 'romantic' nature.
Cybercriminals are well aware of the flaw in GO SMS Pro and Trustwave has discovered numerous tools and scripts designed to exploit the vulnerability on sites such as Pastebin and GitHub. Several of these more popular tools are updated on a daily basis and the firm has also observed underground forums sharing images downloaded directly from the app's servers.
Unfortunately, GOMO has been less than cooperative when it comes to working with Trustwave on fixing the vulnerability.
The developer has made some changes to GO SMS Pro but for the time being, Trustwave recommends that users “avoid sending media files that you expect to remain private or that may contain sensitive data using this popular messenger app”.
